The following are frequently asked questions and answers that might help you learn more about Nicole Denae Photography and how to book a session.  If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact me at info@nicoledenae.com

BOOKING A SESSION

When is the best time to book a session?
Session dates are limited so the best time to reserve your session is as soon as possible.   Many dates are reserved 4-6 weeks in advance.

How do I book a session?
You can email me, call me at 713.202.0087 or use the contact me tab on the home page of the blogsite and we can determine what dates I have available.  I will make every effort to accommodate your date requirements.  Once your date is selected you will receive an email confirming this date along with a link to pay the creative (session) fee and a portrait agreement which must be completed to confirm your session.

Do I have to pay anything in advance to book a session?
Yes, the creative (session) fee is required to book and hold your session date.  This ensures you are committed to the session with Nicole Denae Photography and secures your date.  The session fee is non-refundable but can be transferred to a different date in the event of illness or inclement weather.

What to wear?
Coordinating but not matchy, I know there’s so much more to you than jeans and a white shirt!

STYLE: I suggest two sets of outfits (ie. one dressy and one casual) coordinated for everyone. You can’t have too many clothes! For newborn sessions, it’s easiest to pick something that mom can wear and then work everything around that.

LAYERS: Even in the summer, layers add interest and we can change a look quickly by adding/removing them (think hats, scarves, belts, jackets, vests, leggings, jewelry, ties, layering shirts).

TEXTURE/PATTERN: Try to use as few solids and as many textures as possible. You CAN mix patterns, colors, and textures.

COLOR: I like color and lots of it. One thing to try is to pick a color and then weave it throughout the outfits to tie it together (ie. baby in a pink onesie, dad in a pink tie, mom in pink heels).

INTEREST: Once you’ve got the outfits lined out, try to add at least one small part to reflect your personalities, like a hat, a fun t-shirt under a jacket, or cool shoes. I love it when mom stands out in a dress/skirt or fashionable jeans with heels/boots.

WHITE done RIGHT: White (or black) would NOT be my first choice for your main outfits, but white does work well on a onesie/tee for a baby or as a dress for a little girl or mom. White is also a simple, classic choice for family newborn sessions.

Where should we have our session?
We can hold a session pretty much anywhere…as long as it’s safe for little ones.  Tell me about the feel you want your images to have and I can give you some ideas.  I’m open to trying new places.   And don’t forget your home…it doesn’t have to look like a Pottery Barn catalog to be session-worthy.  You’d be surprised at what we can do.

We may have to move furniture, decorations, etc. It is helpful if you tidy up before I arrive, but the house does not need to be spotless. If we’re on location, we’ll move around from place to place to get a variety of textures, scenery, and light.   It’s not going to be stiff and formal. I’ll direct you if needed, but most often, when you’re just interacting naturally, that’s when you look your best. If you had a specific idea in mind, please tell me before the session so I can be sure to come prepared.

What if we or sick or my child falls?
If someone is sick, however, let me know as soon as you can so we can reschedule.  I will always reschedule newborn sessions if I am ill. I do complete retouching on all of your proofs, so please don’t worry about minor boo boo’s on the face.

Bad weather?
I never trust weather reports, so unless you hear otherwise from me, we’re still on (some of the best light is on a cloudy day). However, if it’s storming/raining, we’ll need to find another time or day.

PRODUCT S & PRICING

What are your prices?
You can find my basic pricing information on the investment page.  The creative (session) fee is required to reserve your date and there is a minimum $400 purchase required with all sessions.

Why are gift prints (8×10, 5×7, 4×6 & wallets) all priced the same?
All gift prints are priced the same because is take the same amount of time and care to produce the image you see.  The cost of the paper the image is printed on varies minimally between the sizes.  You are paying for the actual image creatively produced and hand-edited from your session, not the paper on which it is printed.

Do you offer digital files?
Yes, I believe that the images from your session tell a story and they all belong together.  You do NOT have to choose between a 5×7 and an 8×10 of an image. You do not have to choose between images at all.  Clients generally anticipate spending around $650-$1,400 for the session itself, the digital negatives on CD, and various boutique items for display.

Do you offer collections?
Collections and a la carte pricing are both offered.  Collections provide a significant saving off of a la carte pricing as well as boutique items not available for a la carte purchase.  Collections begin at $450 for digital collections. A la carte pricing starts at $45 for gift prints.

IMAGE S (VIEWING/ORDERING/PAYMENT)

When will I see the images from my session?
About two weeks after our session together your hand-edited images will be ready for viewing in a slideshow and an online password protected gallery for viewing for 7 days.  You will receive an email with a link to your slideshow as well as information on how to log on to your gallery.  If you need to extend the time of your gallery you may do so for 3 days for $40.

Will I be able to save the images from my gallery/slideshow?
NO! You are not allowed to save, capture, print or use any other method of capturing image proofs from your gallery.  This includes capturing to save on mobile devices.  This violates Federal Copyright Law.

How long will it take to receive my order?
Once payment on your order is received, your order will be ready for pick up in 2-4 weeks (depending on the boutique items in your order).

What forms of payment are accepted?
Nicole Denae Photography accepts cash, check, Visa, Mastercard and Discover.  If paying by check your check must clear before your order is placed.  Returned checks will receive a $25 returned check fee added to your order.  Payment plans are available for orders over $750.
